MURAL ART ABOUT LOCAL FOOD IN MUAR- OYSTER

Hello, how are you today?:)

This post will be talk about our latest mural wall back in MUAR (Oscar's hometown) which just finish painting within 3 days time! And here I am, documenting and sharing with you some interesting story I got from pak cik, makcik , uncle and auntiessss...It's such a great experience to get the opportunity back in hometown. Most of time we get to know a place more thru a 'gossip-type' conversation with neighbors or passer-by who appreciate our mural art.

First of all, it's a homestay fencing wall size 8ft x 6 ft and you must be questioning why name it Tiram Homestay instead? To draw for people to question, there goes the story of Parit Tiram will pass to every visitors and i will share with you a little that i know from quick research and cakap-cakap with pak cik, mak cik, uncle and auntiessss...

People said "Oyster in Muar, the most expensive but the Best."

Muar are well-known with Oyster Diver tradition since early 1900s. Until now only left 11 Oyster divers who are divers in actions to provide restaurants and people's demands. If you're happened to come Muar, don't missed out the chance to have a boat ride from Tanjung Emas which linked up to diver's sampan at the Muar River Mouth. They only starts work during low tide and  the dangerous part of being an Oyster Divers are you're not only have to deal with holding breath to dive in river but dealing with whirlpool where rotating of water when meeting of opposing currents.

Muar river experience, the entire oyster diver in actions site seeing and taste freshly caught oyster, the entire experience are come in package! It's even great with local LOCAL TOURGUIDE (he born in Muar and know Muar very well) sharing with you his knowledge in story-telling method👍 click the link to know more : Oyster Farm site-seeing with MUARYI

"Encik boleh dive dalam air berapa lama?"

"Kalau nasib baik 1 minit lebih sudah dapat tiram boleh naik, Kalau tidak, setengah jam hingga 2/3 hari"

At first i was blur for few moment why Encik telling me that way, only realise that is a mixed feeling joke from him 😒 What he meant was dying and floating up....really don't know how to react mann!

Back to topic, whats special about Muar Oyster divers /Nelayan Tiram compare to 海女 Jeju Woman Diver are they just holding their breath under water WITHOUT any breathing apparatus and goggle but both leg crossing along a long stick as their GPS diving underneath water!!*i can't even hold my breath for 20 seconds! PANIC LIKE HELL*

You might be asking "Why not use oxygen tank while diving?"

The breathing apparatus cost hundred/litre, and Oyster Diver earn count by kilogram which can't cover their profit earn. Not Dai ahhh!

ABOUT MURAL

Talk about Parit Tiram mural art, it's a traditional wooden house converting into a comfortable light blue color homestay. Before we start this mural, Mr. Tan (client) share with us about his experience living in Parit Tiram and the dangerous working environment of Nelayan Tiram. We did a quick research as mentioning above. The special part we did on this mural is combining art with recycle glass! From collecting recycle syrup glass, we break it into small pieces to be stick on the wall.

Thought sticking broken glass on wall very easy?!

Using clipper stick one by one until 天荒地老啊!

The broken glass in different sizes, which inconsistency create a fantastic effect at night.

The outcome really satisfying especially during night time when car spotlight shine on the words, 🌟SHINING LIKE A SWAROVSKI SIGNBOARD!🌟

The outcome is satisfying and pretty with the shining glass on the wall! Make it look 3D and 生动! The best part knowing Tao Keh and Tao Keh Soh right across the road, a home-based杂货店 selling daily goods and fresh vegetables for the every races around. Their customer are various from Malays Chinese and Indian to foreigner. The taokeh and tao keh soh will deal with different races customers using different language at the same time. Some customer will use mix language when purchasing goods. "Tao Keh Soh, nak beli sagu separuh kilo!" *i personally love the culture of different races speaking in mix language under a roof. After been travelling few country, Malaysia still the best for me.*

You can hear makcik and pakcik casual conversation. Some of them would approach us with great feedback on our painting! After a tiring day, when you hear this kind of motivation phrase, "Memang cantek lah u lukis" it's like recharging yourself from 30% >>>> 100%!!

"siapa mereka lukis tu?"

"cantek lah lukisan dia, nampak benar"

"tu siapa kate i hari ni nampak macam Rosmah"

"jahatlah dia cakap lu macam Rosmah"

"Lao ban老板, anak lu sudah balik ker?"

So here come to the end of the post with a short video to conclude our TIRAM HOMESTAY mural back in Muar. We always love traveling around and we hoping that every places we been to may leave with a wall of art there. It's also a best way to know a place thru neighbour's story sharing and experience the environment thru mural painting.

I'll keep the habit  blogging here as allows me to share with you guys more on the story on a certain place told by pak cik, mak cik, uncle ,aunty and boy boy girl girl there!

Hope you enjoy the story, the video and of course our Mural Art!
